About

Hi, I’m Richard — your guide in Shenzhen.

I’m from Slovakia and I moved to Shenzhen — the city where China builds its future. Since then it’s been my home, my work and my favourite thing to share with visitors.

  • Based in Shenzhen — I know the region from the inside, not a brochure
  • Fluent English and Slovak, and I get by in Chinese
  • Focused on southern China, tech and sourcing — not a generalist

“I don’t sell brochure tours. I take you where I go myself — and I’m accountable for every day of it.”

Why I stayed in China

Richard with local friends at a Shenzhen restaurant
An ordinary evening in Shenzhen — a local restaurant and Chinese friends.

The first week in Shenzhen was enough to realise how little of the real story reaches the outside world. A metropolis of 17 million where you pay with your face, food arrives by drone, and the average resident is in their early thirties — a city that was fishing villages forty years ago.

So I stayed. I learned how things actually work here — from Alipay to the paperwork to where the best dim sum is and which places to skip. Then visitors started coming: family, friends, friends of friends, all with the same questions and the same wide-eyed reaction once I walked them through my China.

That’s when it clicked: what’s an ordinary Tuesday for me is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for people back home. The barrier isn’t distance or money — it’s language, apps and fear of the unknown. And that’s exactly the barrier I can remove.

So I started guiding — as one specific person on the ground who looks after you like his own guest. Adversimo provides the itinerary preparation, personal guiding, language help and local support. I shortlist suitable hotels, connections and tickets, send you direct booking options and check that everything fits together; you choose and pay each provider directly, with transparent prices and no hidden travel mark-ups.

My China

Three places that show why I live here

A taste of where I take every visitor — and where I’ll take you.

OCT-LOFT, Shenzhen. A former factory turned creative district — galleries, cafés, design shops. This is where I go to think. Most tourists have never heard of it.
1
Creative Shenzhen15 min by metro from the centre
Morning dim sum in Guangzhou. Bamboo baskets, tea and the newspaper-and-chatter atmosphere of a tea house where I’m the only foreigner. Cantonese breakfast is a ritual — and I’ll teach you how to order it.
2
The taste of Canton30 min by high-speed rail
Victoria Peak at dusk. When Hong Kong lights up beneath you, you understand why people come back their whole lives. I go just before dark — and I know where to stand to skip the crowds.

My promise

What you can expect from me

I’m on the ground

When something needs fixing, I fix it in person and now — not by email from Europe.

Your language

Fluent English from the first message to the last day. No barrier, no misunderstandings.

Experiences, not a brochure

Places, food and people the average tourist never finds. I build from my own life here.

Accountability

One person responsible for the agreed preparation, guiding and support — from first message to the last guided day.

How I work

From first message to the last day

You get in touch

Message me via the form or WeChat with what draws you here.

We shape the trip

A short chat — length, pace, themes. I send a tailored service proposal and price.

You arrive

I meet you, set up payments and a SIM. No stress on day one.

You experience it

I lead, translate and handle problems. You just enjoy China.

What I offer

Private guiding and tailor-made itinerary planning across southern China, plus business support — interpreting, sourcing and Canton Fair assistance. Start with a Shenzhen private day, the three-city tour, a custom itinerary, or local travel support if you’re travelling independently.

Prefer to see the region first? I keep detailed local travel guides. My existing Slovak channel, Richard / Tvoj človek v Číne on Instagram, shows everyday life in China.

Let’s build the right China trip

Send your approximate dates, group size and priorities. I’ll reply personally with the most useful next step.
